You have a choice to make if you are going to make a living from selling information products online. You can have a website which is a general online store for information products but probably the best thing to do is to have one website per niche or per product. There are many different extensions available right now, but a .com extension is best – again because it is most memorable. Also, this is one of the oldest internet extensions so it gives the impression that your business has bee around a while – which makes people more likely to trust you.
Obviously, you need to make sure your domain name is not trade-marked anywhere else or this could land you in legal trouble. That means too, that as soon as you think of a domain name, you should go and register it, before someone else nabs it.

Speed is obviously important. You need your web hosting package to be fast so that your visitors can access your website. You can find out a web host’s server speed by ‘pinging’ it quite easily.
Security of your website data is crucial too, especially as you will be conducting business over the interent, which entails taking customer’s personal and credit card details. Your site must be secure and protected from hackers. An SSL certificate is a must.

An e-commerce site consists of three basic features: a web site, shopping cart and a secure pay function. These are a must for you if you are going to run your business online. You want to make money online so you have to collect money over the internet.
